Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Greetings in the Lord. Our Holy Father has asked each local Church (i.e., diocese) in the world to submit to the Vatican reflections on some issues that have surfaced regarding the perceived action of the Holy Spirit. Specifically, we are being asked to discern not just the needs of the Church today but more importantly: Where is the Holy Spirit moving us, and how are we being called by God to live our Catholic faith today?
I have received feedback from our priests, our schools and some parishioners throughout the year. Most of that has come from small groups of people who have gathered to discuss my Pastoral Letter (“Sharing the Gift”), but I have also received communications from individual people.
In order to elicit more feedback, I offer the following questions to you. Please prayerfully consider answering these questions and providing me with your feedback for our diocesan summary. I ask you to begin with prayer in your heart. Ask the Holy Spirit for wisdom and a spirit of openness first, and then consider the following questions to help to frame your input.
May God bless you and all of us as we live our Faith boldly in the world today!
In Christ’s Peace,
+Bill
Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Your faithful, and kindle in them the fire of your love.
Send forth Your Spirit, and they shall be created, and You shall renew the face of the earth. Amen.
THE SYNOD SURVEY WILL BE AVAILABLE THROUGH AUGUST 15, 2022.
