Adult Confirmation

For many adults this is a deepening of their relationship with Christ and the Church in a different way from the youth.  As bishop, I want to affirm them personally in this step on the journey. ” Bishop Wack

“Each baptized person not yet confirmed can and should receive the Sacrament of Confirmation.” (United States Catholic Catechism for Adults page 205)

“Baptism, the Eucharist, and the Sacrament of Confirmation together constitute the “sacraments of Christian initiation,” whose unity must be safeguarded.  It must be explained to the faithful that the reception of the sacrament of Confirmation is necessary for the completion of baptismal grace. 

or “by the sacrament of Confirmation, (the baptized) are more perfectly bound to the Church and are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit.  Hence they are, as true witnesses of Christ, more strictly obliged to spread and defend the faith by word and deed.” (Catechism of the Catholic Church #1285)

If interested in being confirmed, you will need to complete the registration form and have a current (within the last 6 months) baptismal certificate.  Please bring the form to your parish to learn about the preparation needed.
