Faith and Family
Familiaris Consortio: 70-72
70: "Parishes
The parishes are the pastoral arms of the universal Church. They are called to help families. In fact, plans of pastoral care at all levels are called to take into consideration the pastoral care of the family. It calls for training and formation in the family for those to be involved in pastoral care. In Rome, the Pontifical Lateran University (http://cms.pul.it/jx-link/1007) has a study for the problems of the family. Priests and laity are encouraged to attend courses which prepare them for helping families.
71 “Married Couples and Christian Families”
Married couples and Christian families are called to help other families through material and spiritual charity. They are called to build up the Church and begin by building up the faith in the home. In this call they are to guard against “ideological and moral dangers. “
72: “Communities and Associations”
There are different ecclesial communities, associations, and movements engaged in the pastoral care of family. These associations are to inspire the faithful to live Gospel values, form consciences in accord with Christian values and not according to public opinion, perform works of charity, and be a wholesome leaven for families.
