Pensacola Catholic High School is holding Visitation Days for eighth grade students on September 30, October 7, 14, 28, and November 5 from 7:45 a.m. until Noon each day.  Students in public middle schools or non-Catholic private schools who wish to attend one of the Visitation Days should call the Catholic High School Office (436-6400 Ext. 3) to register to attend. Christmas at the Cathedral: The Cathedral of the Sacred Heart presents “Christmas at the Cathedral”. A special celebration for all the family, this concert of glorious seasonal and traditional music perfectly captures the true spirit of Christmas. This special afternoon of music will feature the Cathedral Choir and Handbell Choir in both sacred and secular music. The holiday concert is the perfect setting in which to enjoy familiar as well as rare carols and songs of celebration of the Christmas season spanning seven centuries, from Gregorian chant to the 20th Century.  The performance is scheduled at the Cathedral on Sunday, December 7th, 2:00 p.m. Admission is free. The Rite for the Blessing of a Child in the Womb on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at the Basilica of St. Michael, Pensacola, during Mass at 10:30 a.m. (CST) with Bishop Parkes celebrating.  All are welcome, especially expectant parents.

St. Rose of Lima 33rd International Fall Festival, October 10th – 5 pm to 10 pm, October 11th – 10 am to 10 pm, and October 12th – 12 pm to 5 pm. St. Rose of Lima Festival Grounds, 6451 Park Avenue, Milton. The festival celebrates the diversity in the community as well as in the parish.  There will be colorfully decorated booths featuring foods from the Polish, Italian, Cajun, Hispanic, American and Filipino cultures. Fair food favorites like elephant ears, ice cream, and snow cones are also available. Festival favorites include arts and crafts vendors, plant booth, bakery booth and petting zoo.  Bingo for the adults, games and rides for all ages will be returning. Live entertainment throughout the weekend.  5K run will be held on Saturday.  Admission is free and open to the public. The Refugee Program at Catholic Charities (Pensacola) is in need of volunteers to work with the refugees. There are several capacities in which a person can work with a refugee. We need ESL tutors, help for children with their school homework, help with transportation (either teaching refugees how to ride the bus or offering a ride), help with application for their social security card, help with finding employment, help with cultural orientation, etc. In kind donations are also needed. Hospice Craft Workshops: All are welcome to join the women of St Sylvester on the 2nd Wednesday of every month from 9:00 a.m. to Noon.  Everyone can assist in their own little way.  The mission is to make end of life a little more toleterable for folks by giving them little gifts.  We work on  different projects making lap blankets, hats, booties, walker bags and many other great gifts.  We would love to have you join us....all talents are welcome.  Donations of fabric or yarn we can always accept. Alfred-Washburn Center (AWC) urgently needs your help!  AWC is a homeless facility operated by the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.  Each day, this remarkable mission serves 100-130 homeless who visit to eat, shower, obtain clothing or to do their laundry. AWC currently needs male volunteers on Saturdays to provide these much-needed services. Catholic Charities Adoption Services is in need of families that are willing to provide a temporary home and care for infants receiving services through our program. You will be required to go through a full licensing process with our assistance similar to the foster care system; however, these homes are available strictly for Catholic Charities’ use. The Florida Guardian ad Litem Program is an organization composed primarily of volunteers who act as advocates in the court system for abused, abandoned or neglected children.  The volunteer works with a case coordinator and attorney, to address the best interests of these children.  The time commitment is very flexible and is usually only a few hours a month.  Training for new volunteers is held every month. Volunteers develop relationships with children who often have had no stable adult in their life, showing these children that someone truly cares about them. If you have a love for children and the ability to commit to walking with a child through a difficult time in his/her life…the Guardian ad Litem Program needs you.   To learn more about the program or to register for training, call 1-866-341-1GAL (1425) or log onto www.guardianadlitem.org.

Mary's Shelter Gulf Coast, St. Thomas-by-the-Sea Catholic Church, Orange Beach, AL.  Mary's Shelter Gulf Coast is seeking representatives from Pensacola area Catholic Churches to serve on its Outreach Committee. Volunteer opportunities in the Tallahassee/Panama City area.

Society of St. Vincent de Paul Service Project: SVdP provides one lunch each month, on the last Monday, from 10:30AM - 12:30PM, at The Shelter, 480 West Tennessee Street, Tallahassee.   Volunteers are needed to setup, prep, plate and serve lunch to about 150-200 homeless individuals in Tallahassee. Volunteers are also needed to make sandwiches the Sunday before at 4:00pm at St. Thomas More Parish Center in order to keep this project going.  Parking at The Shelter is in the lot off of Macomb Street.
