It is with sadness that we announce the death of Father Hugh Dolan on May 21, 2015. Father Dolan was born on February 10, 1930 in Langford Town, Ireland to James Dolan & Margaret (Hernan) Dolan. After studying for the priesthood at St. Patrick Seminary in Carlow he was ordained by the most Reverend Thomas Keogh on June 8, 1957. He arrived in the United States on October 3, 1957 and has served in the Diocese of Mobile; Diocese of Mobile-Birmingham; Diocese of St. Augustine and the Diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee. On February 11, 2000 and upon reaching his 70th Birthday, Father Dolan retired from active ministry and assisted at various parishes until his health no longer permitted him to serve. Details of the Funeral Mass will be announced as that information becomes available. Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. And may his soul and all the souls of the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace.
During June, Sacred Heart Health System will provide free heart-health and osteoporosis screenings at several locations in Pensacola, Cantonment, Beulah and Bagdad for adults who are poor, elderly, or uninsured. Heart-health screenings will measure blood pressure, blood sugar and total cholesterol, and can detect anemia. The screenings are helpful in diagnosing conditions that put people at high risk for heart attack, stroke, diabetes and other health problems. Osteoporosis screenings measure bone density. Following is the June schedule:
